Over and Over Again

I went to a local

Christian men’s group

this morning.

Once again I was told

how despicable

a man I am:

a depraved,

vile,

filthy,

evil,

wicked,

awful,

wretched sinner.

And thank God for Jesus!

I have heard this exact same message,

from many different Christian pultpits,

over and over and over

and over and over,

and over and over and over

and over and over

and over and over and,

and over

and over and over

and over and over

and over again.

Is this all Christians know about themselves?

When I left the group,

I asked the same question I always ask,

will the church

Ever wean itself from mother’s milk?

Ever get out of nursery school?

Is it any wonder America

Is in such dire straits?

Her light is dark,

her salt has no savor,

her pulpits are preschool

her people are led

by infants still in diapers,

and like it this way.
