Fear

Fear is a powerful dictator.

It resides on the energy spectrum 

at the end opposite Love.

As night is to day,

Fear is as dark is to light.

When I fear the idea of someone controlling me,

Of someone rejecting or hurting me,

I am controlled by the fear induced by the idea:

A conversation takes place inside me.

I am the author of both sides.

I project meaning onto the ideas,  

onto what were once merely scattered thoughts,

thereby manufacturing a story of my own
out of the thoughts
derived from the ideas.

This dance is a mere fiction 
within which I perform.

It is I who guide the story,

the scene, the world, the setting
within which my image, 
my projected person,
lives.

The perceived world sustaining my person.

It is the cloak over my shield.

My story is the shield 
surrounding and protecting my person.
